WE ARE GRATEFUL by Traci Sorell

Seasons of the year are highlighted through the lens of Cherokee culture. The book explains how time passes, and during each season there are traditions to follow related to the natural world. Each colorful page is infused with the Cherokee language. The bright illustrations encourage readers to appreciate seasonal patterns throughout the year and show the connection people have with the earth and changing weather. The last pages include a glossary, information about Cherokee people, and the Cherokee alphabet. This book celebrates current indigenous culture and language, for which we are grateful. This book is part of LitART’s nonfiction LITE themes.
